  1. Extended Learning Services representative Brice Taylor retired from the committee and was named the Second honorary Diversity Committee in October.

  1. The Diversity Committee planned and hosted an Americana Theme, “A Taste of America,” a Holiday 2001 party featuring the diverse dishes from Boston, Chicago, Honolulu, New Orleans, New York, and San Francisco.
  1. A Holiday Planning Guide was created.
  1. We revised our mission statement.
  1. The Committee hosted a Spring 2002 event, “The Language of Dance," and Three UCSB Dance Groups Presented Ethnic Dances:

  1. Decided to have themes for the year. This year is “Year of the Woman.”
  1. Mary Lou and Tony presented our plans of a Year Theme to the OAP Directors.
  1. Spring 2002, “Woman Beyond Borders,” we presented private showing of an art show that was on display at the Art Museum for our members. Nikki Dewart, Museum Education Director, gave a brief introduction.
  1. We changed our presentation format to include lunch hour and include a lunch to try to increase attendance.
  1. Our 2002 Holliday Party, “The Divas of Music,” featured Laurice Kernel’s singing accompanied by William Koseluk on the piano. Laurice sang two Clara Schumann songs: Liebst du um schonheit and Ihr bildnis.
  1. “Teaching with Technology.” We featured some of our woman faculty in the Technology and Teaching Faculty Showcase of 2003 Presented by Instructional Development.
  1. Spring Event 2003, “Five Foot Feat,” Catherine Cole showed us some excerpts from a play she performed. She illustrated how to overcome adversity by showing us how she learned to dance with only one leg.
