A FESTIVAL OF DANCE

~ The Academic Programs Diversity Committe Spring Event featured three dance groups: (1) the Argentine Tango Organization, which is a UCSB group dedicated to the dissemination of Argentine Tango's musical and dance traditions; (2) Iaorana te Otea, a multi-cultural student organization celebrating the dynamic cultures of the Polynesian Islands; and, (3) El Grupo Folklorico de UCSB, Raices de mi Tierra, which is a student group striving to promote Mexican and other Latin American cultures through language, music and dance.

~ Tony Schrick, committee co-chair, opened the event with an informative introduction on The Language of Dance and a short history that answered the historical question, "When Did Dance Begin?"

~ Melanie Bercerra paved the way for the event's PR by creating both the Flyer and the Program. Tony informed the audience, who seemed to enjoy the event as much as the committee did.
